11:02  We were saying,
weren't we,

11:11  that where there ...

11:15  there is no culture.

12:02  of 3000 years ...
or 10 days old.

12:09  In that soil, culture

13:49  which is a very
complex thing,

13:55  must be investigated, ...

13:57  must be considered.

14:02  We said time is
movement in division.

14:12  Right?

14:15  Yesterday, today

14:22  the knowledge which ...
man has acquired,

14:26  both scientific, ...

14:33  and experience, ...
is the past.

14:41  And that past

14:45  modifies itself and goes on
- the future.

14:50  That is the whole
movement of time.

14:55  And we were saying
yesterday too,

14:59  that our minds
are so conditioned

15:05  to accept time as a ...

15:31  of becoming, ...
growing, evolving.

15:38  In a certain sense,

15:42  both biologically
and physically,

15:46  time does exist. ...

15:53  The acorn
growing to an oak,

15:57  that needs time.

16:01  And we were saying

16:27  morally, spiritually, ...

16:29  if we can use the ...

16:32  without being romantic or ...

16:45  - time is destructive ...
element.

16:50  That is what นั่นเป็นสิ่งที่เราได้พูดกัน
we talked about เมื่อวานนี้

16:53  yesterday,
more or less.

17:02  If one may, ถ้าทำได้เราต้องสืบค้น

17:07  we must investigate

17:12  what is order.

17:24  don't agree or disagree, just ...
like the wind, the breeze comes,

way just listen ขอให้ฟังเฉยๆ...

sequence in space.

17:46  You understand that?

17:48  No. ไม่เข้าใจซิ

17:59  order cannot exist

18:07  without sequence, ...

18:11  and there
must be space.

18:18  We are going
to examine that

18:22  because...

18:23  - what is the
matter with me today?

18:35  Probably it is ...

18:38  - I am not used to
this hot weather.

18:47  Our life is disorderly,

18:54  confused,
contradictory.

18:59  We are talking
very simply.

19:03  And where there is contradiction,
there is no order.

19:11  Where there is ที่ใดมีความสับสน ความขัดแย้ง

19:16  confusion, conflict,

19:20  there is no order.

19:25  And our life as

of contradiction,

19:37  confusion, and conflict, ...
and dishonesty.

19:46  Right?

19:48  That's a fact.

19:52  And one wonders

19:56  if order can be brought
about in this confusion.

20:02  Because without order

20:05  there is no efficiency,

20:08  both intellectual, ...

20:10  or if you have
capacity,

20:14  you must have order. ...

20:19  Order has nothing whatever
to do with sentiment,

20:28  with romance.

20:31  Order is very, ระเบียบเป็นการเรียงลำดับ

20:36  logical, sane. ...

20:45  So we are going to inquire

20:48  into what is order,

20:52  whether we can ...
have order,

20:57  not a blue print, ...

21:00  not something laid
down by tradition,

21:04  or by a guru, ...
or by a leader,

21:09  or by our own little ...

21:16  but we are going ...

21:20  into what is

21:24  lasting order.

21:31  Are you interested
in this?

21:38  How to bring about order
in our life, มาสู่ชีวิตของเราได้อย่างไร...

21:44  so that there ...
is no opposites, ไม่มีคู่ตรงกันข้าม...

21:50  duality, contradiction, ...

21:53  dishonesty, politically, ...

21:57  religiously or in our ...
relationship with each other.

22:06  You are interested
in this?

22:09  Or do you want me to
talk about meditation?

22:17  And you can go off
into some kind of

22:19  illusion and think
we are meditating.

22:24  Because, you see, คุณเห็นไหมว่า หากชีวิตประจำวัน

22:27  without bringing about
order in our daily life

22:36  do what you will, ...

22:39  there can be
no meditation.

22:42  Right?

22:45  So, we are laying

22:51  of what is meditation.

22:59  If one realises

23:05  actually what
our daily life is,

23:11  how disorderly it is, ...

23:14  how contradictory it is, ...

23:19  controlled by various ...
objects of desire, อันหลากหลาย...

23:27  seeking power, ...

23:33  living in ...
arrogance and vanity, และหลงตนลืมตัว...

that human beings be free,

57:04  because when ...
you are free, ชีวิตจะแตกต่างไปโดยสิ้นเชิง

57:07  life becomes
totally different.

57:12  And a person that is burdened
with fear can never be free.

57:23  And when the mind is

58:13  that it might
come back again.

58:16  Right?

1:04:46  Please listen.

1:04:48  In analysis there is...

1:05:23  In analysis several ...
things are implied.

1:05:28  There is the analyser

1:05:31  and the thing which is
going to be analysed.

1:05:37  Right?

1:05:39  In analysis is implied
time.

1:05:46  You follow? I คุณเข้าใจไหม

1:05:50  all the time, เช่น ผมต้องวิเคราะห์อยู่ตลอดเวลา
that includes time.

1:05:54  And every analysis
must be complete.

1:06:02  Otherwise, I remember,

1:06:08  and with that remembrance ...
you analyse.

1:06:10  Therefore it is never complete.
You understand?

1:06:14  Doesn't matter,
you go into it.

1:06:19  First of all ก่อนอื่นในการวิเคราะห์

1:06:20  there is the analyser
and the analysed.

1:06:26  The analyser
is the analysed.

1:06:30  Right?

itself as the analyser

1:06:39  and the thing ...
to be analysed.

1:06:42  So, it has created
a division.

1:06:46  Thought in its very
process is limited ความคิดจำกัด...

1:06:51  and therefore ...

1:06:52  and therefore has the
capacity to divide.

1:07:00  That which is limited

1:07:04  is always capable
of division.

1:07:08  That which is whole is never,
can never be divided.

1:07:14  I wonder if you

1:07:20  Please don't look at me
like a guru, that's all.

1:07:25  That is the last thing.

1:07:32  So, we are saying

1:07:41  analysis will not
solve the problem.

1:07:49  You can discover

1:07:53  and the discovery
of the cause

1:07:56  and the effect
of the cause,

1:08:00  and the effect becomes the ...
cause for the next happening.

1:08:04  So, it's a constant
chain:

1:08:07  the cause becoming ...

1:08:09  the effect
becoming the cause.

1:08:14  Right?

1:08:16  In that circle,
there is no answer.

1:08:25  You will have to think
it out for yourself

1:08:28  if you are so inclined,

1:08:32  because we are so ...
used to analysis กับการวิเคราะห์มากเหลือเกิน...

1:08:36  which prevents ...
direct perception.

1:08:41  So, we are asking

1:08:44  what is the cause of ...

1:08:48  that human beings have, ...

1:08:53  both conscious as well ...
as deep, hidden fears?

1:09:12  If you observe
or look into fear,

1:09:19  fear is never actual.

1:09:25  Do you understand?

1:09:26  You are only...
you are recording it

1:09:29  either when it is over or ...
might happen in the future.

1:09:37  Right? I don't know if ถูกไหม
you understand this.

1:09:40  All right, let me
put it differently.

1:09:44  Why am I working
so hard for you?

1:09:50  The other day a man asked me as
I was walking out after the talk,

1:09:56  he said to me, 'You ...
ask us why we come,

1:10:01  what reason, curiosity, ...
this or that.'

1:10:04  And he said, แล้วเขาก็ถามว่า
'Why do you speak?'

1:10:16  Do you want to know
why I speak?

1:10:24  Because, sir,

1:10:27  - oh, forget it,
does not matter.

1:10:31  That's not important.

1:10:43  Like pleasure,

1:10:47  at the instant
of pleasure

1:10:52  there is no recording. ...

1:10:55  It is only a second later
that recording takes place.

1:10:59  Haven't you noticed it?
Have you?

1:11:04  Sexual, any คุณเคยไหม
form of pleasure

1:11:08  as it is actually

1:11:11  you are totally unaware ...
that it is called pleasure.

1:11:18  If you have been angry
- I hope you haven't -

1:11:21  if you have been
very angry

1:11:24  at the moment ...
of that feeling, ความรู้สึก...

1:11:31  it is just a feeling,

1:11:33  but when you ...
begin to name it,

1:11:36  which is a second ...
later, it becomes anger.

1:11:40  Then you say,
'I must control, "ฉันต้องควบคุมให้ได้"

1:11:42  I must not be angry,'
and all the rest of it follows.

1:11:53  at the moment of a pleasurable
thing happening to you,

1:12:01  there is no recording, ...

1:12:07  the brain is
not functioning.

1:12:12  Only a second later

1:12:15  and says, 'How ..."
marvellous that was,

1:12:19  that meal was so good, ..."

1:12:24  that sunset was
so lovely,

1:12:28  I must have more of ..."
that kind of food,

1:12:31  or I must see more sunsets ...
with such delight.'

1:12:36  You follow?

1:12:38  So, are you aware at
the moment of fear,

1:12:45  at the second of ...
the thing arising,

1:12:54  and as it arises, ...

1:12:58  not to let thought
come into it,

1:13:03  recognise it from ...

1:13:06  say, 'That's anger,' ...

1:13:08  but realise ...
thought has no place

1:13:12  at the moment of action? ...

1:13:15  You understand
all this?

1:13:18  That requires
great alertness.

1:13:25  So, If the mind
is so alert,

1:13:30  at the moment ...

1:13:32  this feeling called fear, ...

1:13:41  and realise it, and the ...
very realisation of it,

1:13:45  the truth of it prevents ...
thought from interfering.

1:13:53  Have you understood
this, anybody?

1:13:56  Are you doing it?

1:14:07  So, fear and pleasure
go together.

1:14:14  Have you realised
that too?

1:14:17  You can't have one
and deny the other.

1:14:23  So, to delve into both,

1:14:30  see the whole movement ...
of fear and pleasure,

1:14:38  and the desire ...
which is involved ที่เข้ามาเกี่ยวข้อง...

1:14:42  in fear as well ...
as in pleasure,

1:14:45  see the whole nature ...
and the structure of it,

1:14:50  not intellectually,
verbally,

1:14:51  but actually as you
see this microphone, หรือเพียงคำพูด...

1:14:59  then you come ...
to the question คุณเห็นไมโครโฟนตัวนี้...

1:15:02  that the fear, ...
or the pleasure,

1:15:06  is not different ...
from the observer.

1:15:10  The observe is fear.

1:15:16  Please listen to it.

1:15:20  There is no thinker

1:15:24  thought has
separated the thinker

1:15:28  and itself as ...

1:15:31  from the thing
it has created.

1:15:36  Right?

1:15:38  So, the thinker is always trying
to control, shape thought.

is not separate จากผู้สังเกต หรือจากตัวคุณ

1:15:50  from the
observer, yourself.

1:15:54  You are part of that.

1:15:56  And when you say,
'I must control it, "ฉันต้องควบคุมมันให้ได้...

1:15:58  I must have courage, ...
I must escape from it,

1:16:00  I must dodge it, ...
I must analyse it,' ฉันต้องวิเคราะห์มัน"...

1:16:02  you are playing a ...
game with yourself.

1:16:08  Whereas if you แต่ทว่าหากคุณตระหนัก

1:16:11  the truth that ...
the fear is you.

the result of time,

1:16:23  you are the
result of thought,

1:16:29  put together by various... ...
I won't go into all that.

1:16:32  It is very simple.

1:16:34  So, fear is you,

1:16:38  and when you have
realised that,

1:16:41  you cannot possibly act ...

1:16:45  and therefore you are ...

1:16:49  - when you observe ...

1:16:51  the very thing which ...
you are observing ชนิดถอนรากถอนโคน

1:16:55  undergoes
a radical change.

1:16:59  Are you doing it?
Will you do it?

1:17:03  Will you observe
without the observer เพราะว่าผู้สังเกตเป็นอดีต...

1:17:09  because the
observer is the past

1:17:12  and the observer ...

1:17:15  clear, objective,

1:17:19  direct perception. ...

1:17:26  'I have no place ..."

1:17:30  and therefore the ...
observation is pure.

1:17:35  When you observe fear

1:17:42  without the observer, ...
which is the past,

1:17:45  then that very fear ...
which is being observed,

1:17:50  undergoes a radical change.
It is no longer fear.

you memorise this?

what is implied.

1:18:14  That fear and the
avoidance of it, หรือการกดข่มมันไว้...

1:18:20  or the suppression of it,

1:18:22  or the transmuting it, ...

1:18:24  or saying 'I must
struggle with it'

1:18:30  - all that will ...
not wipe away fear

1:18:34  because you have ...
done all those things,

1:18:39  and it has remained ...
with you for millennia.

1:18:42  And we are saying something
entirely different.

1:18:46  We are saying,
the fear is you.

1:18:51  You are the result
of time,

1:19:00  and can there be ...
observation of that fear

1:19:04  without time, ...

1:19:06  without remembrance?

1:19:08  Just to look.

1:19:15  That is, can you look at
your wife or your husband

1:19:19  as though you ...
are looking at her

1:19:21  for the first
time in your life,

1:19:27  without all the remembrance ...

1:19:31  nagging, bullying, ...

1:19:34  without any of ...
that - to look?

1:19:39  Because knowledge
prevents you from looking.

1:19:51  And it is the freedom
from knowledge

1:19:53  that will end fear ...

1:19:57  completely, not partly.

1:20:02  Not this fear or that fear, ...
but the root of fear.

1:20:10  And in the same way,

1:20:15  can you look
at pleasure?

1:20:22  Right?

1:20:24  You have lots of pleasures,
haven't you?

1:20:27  Sexual pleasure,

1:20:30  pleasure of having
money,

1:20:33  pleasure of ...

1:20:35  pleasure of being
somebody politically

1:20:38  - you know ...
all that business - ความพึงพอใจในอำนาจ...

1:20:40  pleasure of having
power,

1:20:45  pleasure of ...
