that your mind is mechanical?
12:27  | Because, please, |
we’re going into something very | ในเรื่องที่ค่อนข้างยาก

12:33  | I don’t know | ผมไม่ทราบหรอกว่า |
where it is going to lead us.

13:29  | even though you’re asleep, |
you wake up. | ||
13:35  | Now, could you so listen, |
13:41  | with that same quality of attention, |

human beings become so mechanical?
14:36  | That mechanical habit |

14:53  | in that narrow limit, |
there’s always this energy, limited | พลังงานจะถูกจำกัดเสมอ

15:34  | which is the feeling |
of great affection | รักในสิ่งที่คุณจะฟัง
15:39  | to what you are going to listen to?
15:44  | We are talking about disorder. |
15:49  | And we live in disorder, |

15:59  | This is the pattern we live in | นี่เป็นแบบแผนที่เรามีชีวิตอยู่ |
16:04  | which, naturally, being limited, |
must create disorder.
16:14  | Now, when one is in disorder, |
to seek order is wrong, obviously, | การแสวงหาระเบียบจึงผิดอย่างเห็นได้ชัด
16:21  | because the mind that is confused, |
unclear, seeking what is order, | แล้วแสวงหาสิ่งที่เป็นระเบียบ
16:29  | will also be confused, |
will also be uncertain.
16:34  | That’s clear. |
16:35  | But, whereas, |
if you look into disorder,
16:45  | if you understand |
the disorder in which you live,
16:49  | the causes of it, | เข้าใจต้นเหตุและกระบวนการ |
the movement of disorder, | ของความไร้ระเบียบ
16:57  | in the very understanding of it, | ในการทำความเข้าใจมัน |
out of that understanding comes order | จากความเข้าใจนั้น ระเบียบอุบัติขึ้น
17:02  | naturally, easily, happily |
17:05  | without any compulsion,
without any control. | ||
17:09  | You understand what I’m saying? |
17:12  | This is what the mirror |
is telling you: | ||
17:17  | that to understand, not verbally, |
17:28  | but to understand the movement |
of disorder in oneself, | ความไร้ระเบียบในตัวเรา
17:35  | why this disorder comes about | เข้าใจว่า เหตุใด |
17:39  | – and you can discover the causes, |
instantly, if you give attention, | ถ้าคุณให้ความใส่ใจ
17:47  | that attention which you give |
to a small, defenceless child, | แก่เด็กเล็กๆ ที่ไร้การปกป้อง
17:59  | which is to have | นั่นคือ มีการหยั่งเห็นเข้าสู่ความไร้ระเบียบ |
an insight into disorder.
18:09  | So, what is the root of disorder? |
18:17  | The root of it.
18:19  | There are many causes of disorder |
comparing oneself with another, | เปรียบเทียบตัวเรากับคนอื่น
18:29  | comparing oneself |
with what he or she should be, | กับสิ่งที่เขาหรือเธอคิดว่าควรจะเป็น
18:36  | imitating an example |
somebody who is a saint,
18:48  | you know, all that stuff, I don’t |
have to go into all that nonsense – | ผมไม่ต้องสาธยายเรื่องเหลวไหล
18:52  | or conforming. Right?
18:57  | Conformity, imitation, adjustment |
19:03  | to something you think |
is beyond that which is.
19:13  | Right?
19:17  | So, there is always conflict between | ดังนั้น จึงเกิดความขัดแย้งเสมอระหว่าง |
‘what is’ and ‘what should be.’
19:23  | Got it? | |
19:26  | Which is to compare, |
which is the movement of thought: | เป็นกระบวนการของความคิด
19:33  | ‘I was this,’ or ‘I was happy | “ฉันเคยเป็นอย่างนี้” หรือ “ฉันเคยมีความสุข” |
and some day, I’ll be happy again.’
19:42  | So, this constant measurement |
between ‘what has been’ | ระหว่าง “สิ่งที่เคยเป็นมา”
19:50  | or ‘what is’ and ‘what should be.’
19:52  | This constant evaluation |
20:00  | and that is one of the basic |
reasons of disorder.
20:07  | Right?
20:09  | And another cause of disorder |
is operating from the past.
20:22  | Now, is love a movement of time, | แล้วความรักเป็นกระบวนการของเวลา |
20:33  | of thought, of remembrance? |
You understand? | ||
20:42  | You understand my question? |
20:44  | The question is, | คำถามนี้กระจกถามคุณ |
the mirror is asking you,
20:48  | in which you are looking, |
20:54  | and is this love, so-called ‘love,’ |
21:01  | not creating such extraordinary |
disorder between human relationships?
21:14  | Right? Look at it, yourself, |
for God’s sake. | ||
21:25  | Now, what is the root of disorder? |
21:29  | We’ve seen the causes and | เราเห็นเหตุของมัน และยังมีเหตุอื่นอีก |
we can add more, that’s irrelevant.
21:37  | In examining what is the root |
of it, don’t analyse | อย่าได้วิเคราะห์
21:41  | – we’ve been through that – | –เราผ่านเรื่องนั้นมาแล้ว– |
just look.
21:49  | If you look, without analysis, |
you have an immediate insight into it.
21:58  | If you say, |
‘Well, I’ll examine, I will deduct, |
22:02  | or from outside analyse, |
22:17  | – which is still the movement |

if you can observe with that care,

23:02  | in which is involved a great deal |

what is the root of it?
23:18  | Go on, sirs, find out.

because our minds accept things,
24:00  | or try to change a little bit, |
here and there.
24:09  | So, what is the root of disorder? |
24:16  | Which means, |
you have to go into the question,
24:20  | what is our consciousness? |
24:26  | You understand? |
What is your consciousness?
24:30  | As you look at yourself |
in that undistorted mirror, | ในกระจกที่ไม่บิดเบือน
24:38  | what is your consciousness? |
24:42  | And that may be | นั่นอาจจะเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญ |
the essence of disorder.
24:54  | So, we have to investigate, together, |
what is our consciousness.
25:07  | Our consciousness is a living thing, |
a moving thing, | ||
25:16  | it’s active, not something static, |
25:25  | – it is not like that, it’s a thing |
that’s constantly changing.
25:29  | But changing |
within a small, limited border.
25:37  | It’s like a man thinking he’s changing |
25:40  | when he changes a little bit there, | เมื่อเขาเปลี่ยนเล็กๆ น้อยๆ ในมุมหนึ่ง |
in one corner, | ||
25:43  | and he doesn’t transform |
the rest of the field.
25:47  | So, we have to understand the nature |
and the structure of consciousness.
25:57  | We’re doing that to find out | เราทำความเข้าใจเพื่อค้นให้พบว่า |
if that is the root of our disorder.
26:06  | It may not be | มันอาจจะไม่ใช่ เราจะค้นให้พบ |
– we’re going to find out.
26:12  | So, what is our consciousness? |
26:21  | Is it not everything |
that thought has put together?
26:39  | The form, the body, |
the name, the senses | ||
26:46  | with which thought |
26:49  | the beliefs, the pains, |
the tortures, the agonies, | ความปวดร้าวแสนสาหัส
26:53  | the discomfort, |
the depressions and elations, | ความตื่นเต้นดีใจ
26:57  | the jealousies, the anxieties, |
the fears, the pleasures, | ความกลัว ความสุขเพลิดเพลิน
27:02  | my country and your country, I believe |
in God, I don’t believe in God, | ฉันเชื่อในพระเจ้า ฉันไม่เชื่อในพระเจ้า
27:06  | Jesus is the most important, |
Krishna is much more important
27:10  | – and so on, so on, so on.
27:13  | Is not all that your consciousness? |
27:29  | No? You can add more to it, in detail |
27:38  | – ‘I’m brown, I wish I were lighter,’ | “ฉันผิวสีเข้ม ฉันปรารถนาที่จะขาวกว่านี้” |
27:43  | ‘I’m black but black is beautiful’ | “ฉันผิวดำ แต่ผิวดำสวยดี” และอื่นๆ ไม่จบสิ้น |
and so on, so on. | ||
27:53  | The past, the traditions, |
the heredity, | ||
27:59  | the whole tradition of mankind |
is based, essentially, on this, | แท้จริงแล้วอยู่บนพื้นฐานนี้
28:08  | its mythology |
– all that is the content.
28:15  | If you were born in India, |
or in Africa | ||
28:20  | where Christianity is not the fashion, |
28:25  | they have their own gods, |
28:27  | their own images,
their own forms of worship,
28:30  | that’s part of their consciousness, |
as you have it here, | เหมือนที่คุณมีที่นี่
28:34  | only they call it by a different name |
28:36  | but, essentially, |
it’s the same pattern. | ||
28:40  | Right?
28:46  | And, as long as one is unaware |
28:50  | of the content |
of his consciousness and acts,
28:56  | then that action must be limited |
and, therefore, disorder.
29:09  | You understand? |
29:10  | Thought in its movement |
29:20  | unless thought has realised |
its proper place, which is knowledge.
29:30  | Knowledge is limited and therefore, | ความรู้นั้นจำกัด ฉะนั้น |
it has its proper place.
29:35  | That’s clear. We’ve gone into this | นั่นชัดเจน เราได้พิจารณาเรื่องนี้แล้ว |
– I won’t go over and over again. |
29:41  | So, thought born of yesterday, |
or ten thousand million yesterdays, | หรือหมื่นล้านวันวาน
29:53  | is limited, | มันจึงจำกัด |
29:55  | and the content of our consciousness |
is, therefore, limited,
30:01  | and our consciousness, |
however thought may say
30:06  | this consciousness isn’t limited |
but there’s a higher consciousness, | เพราะมีจิตสำนึกที่สูงกว่า
30:10  | it is still a form of consciousness. |
30:14  | You have got it?
30:16  | So, thought which hasn’t realised |
its proper place, | ||
30:24  | is the very essence of disorder. |
30:31  | Right?
30:34  | You understand? |
30:35  | This is not something romantic, |
30:40  | but you can see, for yourself, |
if you’re logical, sane, clear, | ถ้าคุณมีตรรกะ มีเหตุผล ชัดเจน
30:48  | that thought, being limited, |
must create disorder.
30:54  | Like a man who says, ‘I am a Jew,’ |
or ‘I am an Arab’ or a Chinese | หรือ “ฉันเป็นชาวอาหรับ” หรือเป็นชาวจีน
31:00  | – he’s limited and therefore, | เขาถูกจำกัด ฉะนั้นจึงปิดกั้นตนเอง |
31:05  | and therefore, wars |
and all the misery begins.
31:10  | Right?
31:12  | Do you actually see this fact? |
31:18  | – not as an idea, not something |
31:23  | but see it for yourself, |
as you hear the cry of the baby.
31:33  | Then you act. You get up.
31:43  | So.
31:46  | And part of our mechanical |
way of living | ||
31:52  | is born out of this | เกิดจากจิตสำนึกที่จำกัดนี้ |
limited consciousness.
32:00  | Right?
32:02  | So, is it possible | ดังนั้น เป็นไปได้ไหม |
not to expand consciousness?
32:16  | You understand the meaning of that?
32:18  | To expand, to enlarge it, | การแผ่ขยาย การทำให้มันเติบใหญ่ขึ้น |
to add more things to it | หรือเพิ่มเติมสารพัดสิ่งเข้าไป
32:27  | – more knowledge, more experience, |
moving from one corner to another – | หรือเคลื่อนจากมุมหนึ่งไปอีกมุม
32:34  | trying to enlarge it.
32:40  | There are schools |
which are doing this, | ||
32:43  | by practice, by discipline, |
control – all that.
33:02  | So, when you’re trying |
to expand consciousness,
33:09  | there is a centre of measurement. |
33:15  | You understand? |
33:18  | When you try to enlarge anything, |
33:25  | from a from a small foundation |
or a large foundation, | ||
33:29  | you enlarge, there is a centre |
from which you enlarge.
33:32  | Similarly, there is a centre |
from which says, ‘I’m expanding,’ | จากที่คุณพูดว่า “ฉันกำลังแผ่ขยาย”
33:40  | which is measurement. |
33:42  | It doesn’t matter if you don’t |
understand: look at yourself.
33:45  | Aren’t you trying to expand |
your consciousness?
33:48  | You may not use that word. |
33:51  | You may say, |
‘Well, I’m trying to be better’ | “ฉันแค่พยายามที่จะดีกว่านี้”
33:53  | – ‘I’m trying to be more this | “ฉันพยายามจะเป็นอย่างนี้หรืออย่างนั้น” |
or that’ – or to achieve.
33:59  | So, as long as there is a centre |
from which you act, | ||
34:07  | there must be disorder. |
34:36  | Then, the problem arises: |
is it possible to act, | เป็นไปได้หรือที่จะกระทำ
34:43  | function naturally, happily, |
without a centre, | มีความสุข โดยปราศจากศูนย์กลาง
34:50  | without the content of consciousness? |
34:55  | Do you understand these questions? |
34:58  | We are putting fundamental questions. |
35:03  | You may not be used to that.
35:07  | Most of us put questions |
rather slackly, | ||
35:11  | or indifferently and move off.
35:15  | But we’re asking questions |
that you must answer, | ||
35:18  | must find an answer, go into it | คุณต้องค้นหาคำตอบ สืบค้น |
to discover for yourself the answer.
35:25  | Is it possible to act, to live our | ว่าเป็นไปได้ไหมที่จะกระทำ |
daily life, without the centre, | ดำเนินชีวิตแต่ละวัน โดยไร้ศูนย์กลาง
35:37  | which is the essence of disorder? |
35:44  | That is, in your relationship with | นั่นคือ ในความสัมพันธ์ของคุณกับผู้อื่น |
another, however intimate it may be, | ไม่ว่าจะสนิทสนมใกล้ชิดเพียงใด
35:51  | if you’re all the time | ถ้าคุณสนใจแต่ตัวคุณเองตลอดเวลา |
concerned about yourself,
35:56  | your ambitions, your personality, |
your beauty, your habits and so on | ความสวยงาม ความคุ้นชินต่างๆ ของคุณ
36:01  | – you, in your relationship |
with another, | ||
36:04  | and the other, also, | ส่วนคนอื่นก็ทำเหมือนกัน |
is doing the same, | ||
36:07  | naturally, there is conflict, |
which is disorder.
36:16  | So, is it possible | แล้วเป็นไปได้ไหม ที่จะไม่กระทำ |
not to act from a centre?
36:29  | We have gone into what is the centre. |
36:32  | The centre is this consciousness |
with its content. | ||
36:38  | The content is all the things |
which thought has put together,
36:45  | with its sensations, with its desires, |
with its fears and so on, so on.
36:54  | Right?
37:00  | What is that action |
37:05  | in which there is no contradiction, |
37:14  | no regret, no reward or punishment, |
37:24  | therefore, an action that is whole? |
37:29  | You understand? |
37:31  | We’re going to find out.
37:35  | We are going to find out, not I | เราร่วมกันค้นหา |
find out and answer it, tell you, | ไม่ใช่ผมค้นพบคำตอบ แล้วบอกคุณ
37:40  | but together, we’re going to find out, | แต่เราจะค้นหาไปด้วยกัน |
37:45  | remembering that there is no speaker |
37:47  | but only the mirror |
in which you are looking.
37:53  | To understand it, we must go | เพื่อทำความเข้าใจ คุณต้องค้นในคำถาม |
into the question of what is love.
38:06  | Because if we can find |
the truth of what is love
38:10  | that may completely |
dissolve the centre, | ||
a holistic action. | ||
38:26  | So, we must go into it | เราจึงต้องสืบค้นเรื่องนี้ |
very, very, very carefully, | ด้วยความระมัดระวัง เอาใจใส่อย่างยิ่ง
38:30  | if you are willing. |
38:33  | That means, are you willing to listen? |
38:45  | You have your opinions about love, |
obviously. | ||
38:49  | You have your conclusions about love. |
38:51  | You say, ‘Love cannot exist |
38:55  | ‘Love exists only when there is sex,’ | “ความรักมีอยู่เมื่อมีกามารมณ์เท่านั้น” |
39:00  | ‘Love exists only | “ความรักมีอยู่ |
when you love all your neighbours, | เมื่อคุณรักเพื่อนบ้านทั้งหมดเท่านั้น...
39:04  | love the animals’ | ...
and all the rest of it. | ||
39:09  | You have a concept, an idea, |
a conclusion about what love is.
39:19  | If you have, then you cannot |
possibly investigate.
39:27  | Right?
39:28  | If you already say, |
‘This is so,’ you’re finished.
39:34  | It’s like one of those gurus |
who says, ‘I know, | “ฉันรู้ ฉันเข้าถึงการตื่นรู้แล้ว”
39:38  | I’ve reached enlightenment,’ |
and you, gullible, follow him.
39:46  | You never question him.
39:53  | So, here we are… |
39:56  | there’s no authority, |
there is no speaker, | ||
40:01  | but we are asking a very, | แต่เราถามคำถามที่จริงจังจริงๆ |
very serious question,
40:05  | which may resolve |
the conflict, the control,
40:11  | the constant battle |
between oneself and with another.
40:18  | And to find that out, | การที่จะค้นให้พบ |
we must go very deeply | เราต้องค้นลึกลงไปอย่างยิ่ง
40:23  | into this question of what love is, | ค้นเข้าสู่คำถาม ว่าความรักคืออะไร |
40:28  | not what compassion |
– I’m talking of love. | ||
40:34  | Don’t bring in another word |
and then confuse it. | ||
40:39  | We’re just talking of what | เราเพียงพูดกันว่า |
human beings call ‘love.’
40:46  | Love their animals, |
their pets, love their garden,
40:52  | love their house, love their | รักบ้าน รักเฟอร์นิเจอร์ รักลูกชายหญิงของเขา |
furniture, love their girl or a boy,
40:59  | love their god, |

which is so loaded, | ถูกยัดเยียดความหมาย
41:10  | which is so trodden upon. |
41:15  | So, we’re going to find out | เราจึงต้องค้นให้พบ ว่าแท้จริงแล้วมันคืออะไร |
what it is – right? | ||
41:23  | Don’t go to sleep! |
Or take notes. | ||
41:31  | I believe you are going |
to have cassettes, | ||
41:33  | which you can hear afterwards, |
if you want to. | ||
41:36  | But to take notes |
while the baby is crying | ในขณะที่ลูกน้อยกำลังส่งเสียงร้อง
41:45  | – that’s a good simile for you, | นั่นเป็นการเปรียบเทียบที่ดี คุณจะเข้าใจเลย |
you will understand it,
41:52  | saying, ‘Why is he crying?,’ |
write it all, very carefully!
42:11  | So, please, pay a little attention, |
that is, to hear. | ||
42:20  | That means, the art of listening. |
42:27  | You know, that baby when he cries, |
you’re listening with all your might.
42:35  | The art of listening means |
42:40  | – the word ‘art’ implies |
to put everything in its right place.
42:48  | If you understand |
the meaning of that word, really,
42:55  | that is the real art, not painting |
pictures and all the rest of it, | ไม่ใช่การวาดภาพ หรืออะไรพวกนั้น
43:00  | that comes secondary, or tertiary. |
43:03  | But the art of putting your life | แต่ศิลปะในการจัดแจงชีวิตคุณ |
in its proper place, | ให้อยู่ในที่ทางในบทบาทที่เหมาะสม
43:14  | which is to live, harmoniously. |
43:16  | When you have put everything |
in yourself, in its right place | ไว้ในที่ถูกที่ควร
43:21  | you are free. |
43:25  | That putting everything in its | การจัดทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างในที่ถูกที่ควร |
right place, is part of intelligence.
43:33  | Then you say, ‘What do you mean?
43:35  | You’re giving a new meaning |
to that word ‘intelligence.’
43:40  | One must.
43:43  | Intelligence implies |
43:49  | between words, between two silences, |
43:58  | so that your mind is | ดังนั้น จิตคุณจึงตื่นอยู่ตลอดเวลาที่จะฟัง |
all the time alert, to listen.
44:06  | You not only hear with your ear, |
44:10  | but also, hear without the ear. |
44:18  | So, we are asking, |
what is the meaning and the beauty, | และความงามของความรัก
44:27  | if there is beauty, of love? |
44:36  | That gives me an idea |
44:42  | – not an idea… | |
44:45  | Have you ever considered |
what beauty is? | ||
44:56  | What does beauty mean? |
45:03  | Is it connected with desire? |
45:07  | Don’t deny it, look at it, | อย่าปฏิเสธมัน มองดูมัน ใส่ใจฟัง ค้นหาดู |
carefully listen, find out.
45:13  | Is beauty part of desire? |
45:23  | Is beauty part of the senses? |
45:29  | You see a marvellous building |
45:31  | – Parthenon, or an ancient Greek |

49:29  | is the essence of beauty. |

49:38  | So, we’re going to find what is love. |
49:44  | Because if we can find that out, | เพราะถ้าหากเราค้นพบ |

so many opinions about it: | หลากหลายเกี่ยวกับความรัก

and so on, so on. Is it?

of the total senses, | ||
55:01  | the whole senses, |

55:03  | then desire is non-existent. |
55:09  | You think it out.
55:14  | So, is love the movement |

is there love? | ||
58:00  | When you observe it | เมื่อคุณสังเกตดูมัน และคุณสนใจลึกมาก |

58:07  | most profoundly, |
to find out what love is, | ที่จะค้นหาว่าความรักคืออะไร
58:11  | then attachment becomes unimportant, |
it has no value, | ก็กลายเป็นเรื่องไม่สำคัญ ไม่มีค่า
58:19  | because that’s not love. |
58:27  | So, it’s not desire. |

59:18  | It doesn’t mean |
you can’t hold the hand of another.
59:27  | But we’ll find out, | แต่เราจะค้นหา ว่าคุณเข้าใจเรื่องนี้ไหม |
if you understand this.
59:34  | We say desire, |

1:00:37  | And this conflict is part, |
you think, of love.

1:01:35  | and I say, ‘Oh darling, I love you.’
1:01:40  | Is that love? |
1:01:45  | And is pleasure to be denied? |
1:01:55  | You must ask all these questions. |
I’m asking it. You must ask, find out.
1:02:04  | Doesn’t it give you a pleasure |
to look at the waters of a stream?
1:02:12  | What’s wrong with that pleasure? |

perhaps, some of you? | ||
1:02:32  | A great delight, wasn’t there?

1:02:52  | Then the whole movement of pleasure |
comes into operation.
